Over the years Random Hacks of Kindness has evolved from a handful of top-down, sponsored events to a global ecosystem of grassroots-led community initiatives. As the mission and scope of RHoK continues to develop, it has become increasingly clear to the Core Team that more direct leadership and input from the community is essential to keep the project moving forward. In the coming year you will see a number of changes to the RHoK community which are all directed towards putting the growth of RHoK in the hands of the community. Early next spring RHoK will be hosting its first ever Community Summit. At this event people from all over the world will gather to share their experience and enjoy the fellowship of other hackers for humanity. We encourage everyone to attend and meet the amazing RHoK Community face to face.
Today, the Core Team would like to announce another new initiative that we hope will both strengthen the community and improve the overall impact of RHoK events all over the world: working groups! Initially we will start with three working groups:
Problem Refinement
Marketing/PR for RHoK
Event Planning Resources
Because RHoK is committed to deep engagement with the global RHoK community, we would like to work with the people interested in participating in these working groups to decide what tools and platforms they will use, how and when they will meet and what issues they feel are most important to address first. If you are interested in taking part in any of these groups, please email us at thea.aldrich@rhok.org.
