Pre-Event Launch with Dinner - The Water Hackathon Bangalore will be kicked off with a dinner event starting at 6:00 pm on Friday the 21st of October at the Ista Hotel off MG Road Bangalore, during which the participants will be familiarized with identified problems. The event will also include presenters and speakers from HP India, One World and senior officials from the World Bank and the Ministry of Urban Development. The keynote speakers expected are Jeff Martin, founder of Tribal Tech and Mpowering, and Sam Pitroda, adviser to the Prime Minister of India, Public Information Infrastructure & Innovations. After the presentations and talks are over, the hackers will be able to consult and network with IT and water sector experts, form teams and identify the problems they want to address. Dinner will follow once the teams and logistics have been announced at 9:15 pm.

The Hackathon will take place on October 22nd and 23rd, 2011 at IIIT-Bangalore, Electronics City, Hosur Road, Bangalore, 560100. (http://g.co/maps/pbzpq)
The team registration will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday 22nd of October at Room No. 204 of the IIIT-B campus. There will be a briefing by water sector experts for those hackers who wish to get deeper into specific problems. Participants will be provided food and refreshments (veg. only) at all times at the venue. Wifi bandwidth will also be available. During the event, we will connect to the Hackathons going on across the globe via web-streaming. The teams will hack through the day and night of Saturday, and will also be treated to a Yoga session on Sunday morning before breakfast. Starting 2:30 pm on Sunday, the teams will present their solutions to a jury comprising of leading water sector and IT experts, eminent persons from the World Bank and the Govt. of India, and entrepreneurship incubators from leading business schools. The winners will be annouced at 5:30 pm.
Winners will receive many exciting prizes, the opportunity for internship as a Water Ambassador with the World Bank and the opportunity to develop their solution into a full-fledged application.
