Revision #4ForkRecommend a Solution

A group studying at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government have come together to support their classmate  Adam B. Ellick, The New York Times reporter who in 2009 made a documentary about Malala Yousufzai, the courageous 14-year-old Pakistani education activist who Taliban shot in the head - just for going to school.      http://video.nytimes.com/video/2012/10/09/world/asia/100000001835296/class-dismissed.html     His film brought her to the outside world, and he remains close friends with the family. Please read about his deeply personal friendship with the family - and watch the film.     The international community has responded with significant donations to non-profit groups that support education in Pakistan. But Adam is gravely worried about the family, and their long-term rehabilitation and livelihood costs- whether Malala survives or not. So our group of students at Harvard, with some Pakistani-American philanthropists, have teamed up raise funds that will be handed over directly to Malala's family through our personal links to this story.        Adam has been overwhelmed by the response through his Twitter and Facebook accounts, which has increased very quickly as news of this story continues to hold the world's attention. We want to capture all of the attention and create a database to communicate with everyone who has expressed support.      We have many skills that are needed to set up this fund, but we are lacking the technical expertise. We need help in evaluating solutions to capture all the current and future contact data from Adam's Twitter feed and Facebook account and then store them in a way that can be used to send targeted messages for donations to Malala's Family Fund in the days, weeks and months ahead.

Example:

The solution would allow us to have a complete database of all of the people who have expressed their support to Adam B. Ellick, organized in a way that would allow us to send requests for donations to the fund for Malala and her family that we are settting up. We don't want to lose any of the support that has already been expressed, or will be expressed, as this story grows even more.

Constraints:

This is extremely time sensitive - we need to have this up and running as soon as possible, definitely within days to 1 week.

Thank you!!

Next Steps and Sustainability:

We need 2 kinds of help:     1. selection of a suitable technical solution   2. manpower to dredge through the Twitter and Facebook data to extract contact details and populate the database (or other software solution)     Please help Malala and her family!
Qualitative Impact:
This is related to Girls' Education in Pakistan, and specifically to Malala Yousufzai and her family.
Quantitative Impact:
Malala's family would be the immediate recipients of this help specifically their long-term rehabilitation and livelihood costs, but the broader impact is for all girls in Pakistan and around the world who are being denied access to an education.
