Visualising Humanitarian Project (IATI) Data

December 4, 2011 - 07:48 -- StewartM
Summary:

Our challenge was to develop a means of visualising data on humanitarian and development projects, so that an aid agency could tell the story of its work to supporters, donors or other interested parties.

We created a means of displaying data on humanitarian and development projects from the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) on a map. The viewer is able to select categories of work to be shown (e.g. Agriculture, Water and Sanitation) and to view a time series of how effort in the selected categories has changed. Zooming into the map provides a country view. For any particular country, a list of projects is provided, with further details underlying the list. Eventually, when the IATI data itself contains more location data, it will be possible to view individual projects on the map.

The project represents an example of exploitation of the IATI data set and its API.

Hi,

I am interested in getting involved in your project. I would like to know some detailed information on what kind of technical
work that you would like help with and how do I get started with your project.

Thanks,

Pranav
