Fikia is a world mapping needs, relief distribution and early warnings system that allows donors to locate their beneficiaries and needy people to give feedback to their donors, and providing weather forecasting information as to help the humanitarian action in the fight against hunger with use of a Web mapping interface, a Mobile WEB and an SMS based application and further platforms that will be developed later on.

Four concept ideas made during Budapest Hackathon @ KIBU 2012

Colombian Legislation requires candidates to do their advertisement according to several rules, including expending tops, allowed places to advertise, allowed  kinds of media, etc.

This is supposed to make elections more fair and accesible for more candidates, and avoid that over wealthy candidates gain an advantage. However, many of them do not respect this rules, surpass the expending limits, make illegal use of advertisement, or receive in their campaigns money from illegal sources, including terrorist groups or drug capos.

When a crime occurs in a deserted area and there are no eyewitnesses, victims face two major problems: lack of timely help and lack of evidence to produce in court. In addition, police assistance is often slow to reach victims. Bachchao seeks to address these issues in two ways: by alerting selected contacts when a victim sends an S.O.S., and storing a video on a server where it cannot be tampered with. This allows victims to produce the video as evidence in a court of law.

To convince politicians and other people about the usefullness of open data. We created a simple application that shows a heatmap of where the user should buy a house or appartement.

Based on the users input we can propose the city/municipal that corresponds the best to their requirements.

Need Comms Now is a system designed to track cell phone and wifi signal strengths in areas with damaged infrastructure during disaster scenarios. Data will be stored locally, while periodically synchronizing with a server when possible so that others may benefit from the gathered information.

Initially, it will involve an android app publishing to a web server stored on Heroku, though the server will use a generic API while sending JSON data, so any device capable of sending data over the internet will be able to interact with the online database.
