Species Invaders API
Updated 1 year 2 weeks ago
Our solution to the invasive species problem is basically a very flexible REST API and data storage scheme. The idea is that storing, accessing and aggregating the data involved in identifying and preventing/limiting invasive species is the most difficult part of solving the problem. By creating a generic API to access/update/modify/delete this data, we open up the possibility for all kinds of application developers on both sides of the problem to create unique application solutions. All applications use the same data set in an open, standard way.

Social Crowd Map (SCM)
Updated 1 year 2 weeks ago
Our team tackles the problem of post-Earthquake damage assessment. Our goal is to exploit crowdsourcing in order to provide real-time analysis of the earthquake intensity and a (short- and long- term) damage assessment.
Instead of creating a new server where users can upload their data, we create an application able to gather information from different crowdsources. In our specific case, we considered the information freely shared by users on social networks like Twitter and Instangram.
The nice part of our application is that users can browse this data through a map.
CharityViz: Making IATI data easily accessible from web sites
Updated 1 year 2 weeks ago
IATI is a global transparency standard that makes information about aid spending easier to access, use and understand. This data has been made available as linked data on Kasabi at http://kasabi.com/dataset/iati, but this is not in a form suitable for `regular' consumption. To address this we have created the CharityViz jQuery plugin, designed to be simple to use on any page from project web sites to blogs.

Sense Depression
Updated 1 year 2 weeks ago
This solution is provided for the Cure Depression challenge.
The problem description is;
There is no blood test or imaging that can be done to diagnose depression. The diagnosis is based on self-reported symptoms, and there is a lot of overlap between different psychiatric issues in terms of the symptoms people experience.
Once a diagnosis has been made, doctors have the same problem in monitoring effects of treatment -- they see the patient at one point in time and have to judge whether they are better or worse.
